Brutus, an 11 year old unneutered male, was surrendered by his family because of a special needs
grandchild that was tormenting him. He has a big bald spot on his back
but the vet says that is a flea allergy which she expects will grow back
without any problem. Brutus has a hernia which will need surgery—please
see his writeup on the special needs page. |

Jake, 9 years old, was turned in when his owner moved and could not
take him with her. His coat was severely matted and he is being treated for skin and ear infections. He got his spring "shave" so his skin condition can be treated. He is a very sweet dog and everyone he meets falls in
love with him! He has been neutered and brought up to date on all his
shots and is looking for a forever home. |

Jerry is a neutered male about 3 years old. He was bought from Craig’s list but then the new owner found out she couldn’t keep him and brought him to a shelter.
He is very well-mannered. They found out he is HW positive during routine medical procedures at the shelter. He will be going through heartworm treatment for the next month during which he will be allowed no physical activity. After that, he will be available for adoption. Please see his writeup on the special needs page. |

Sparky 2 is a 2 yo, neutered, black and white
male Springer mix. His birth certificate calls him a Cocker
Spaniel. However, except for his size of 20 lbs, he
is all springer. He is small, compact, lightweight and light
on his feet. He prefers to be a lap dog, and his size make
him a perfect fit. He is friendly, sociable and loves to be
loved. He enjoys any and all attention given to him. He has
not had any formal training or leash walking. He responds
fairly well to his name. We are working on basic commands
and leash walking. He is learning
quickly. He tends to chew when he is bored. He gets along
well with the two other dogs in our house except he guards
his food and toys. He also seems to"protect" the adults in the house from our other 2 dogs.
Sparky wants us all to himself. For these two reasons we
believe Sparky should be the only dog in the
house. His interaction with cats is unknown. He enjoys being
hugged and laid with by my children so we think kids will be
okay. Overall Sparky is a wonderful dog, who loves attention
and will stay by your side. With training he will be a great
loyal companion.

My foster parents think that
the ideal home would have a very experienced Springer owner who will
take me to obedience and be willing to spend time working with me on
my training and resource guarding issues. I am a very high energy
boy who needs lot of exercise. I love the outside,
particularly the snow. The thing that I REALLY don't like is having
my ears cleaned. It hurts, so I try to nip whoever is trying to do
it. I'm hoping that eventually it won't be so painful
and I will be able to tolerate it better. Since I am still a
puppy, we should be able to have a long and loving life together.

Spot, who was flown by a private pilot who
helped bring him to his current foster home, is a beautiful
11 year old, liver and white “young” man. Spot’s previous
family, who were transferring to the UK, felt our rescue
group would find him a good home rather than giving him to a
local shelter. Since he’s been in his foster home he’s been
getting along well with the other dogs and cats. The family
is helping him learn better habits with some housebreaking
issues. He has been recently neutered, which has made a
great difference in his marking. He’s been examined and
found to be in great shape for an older dog.
He stays close to home when out in the open yard, and loves
to wander and sniff around with all the other dogs. He does
well with all types of people, young and old. He would be
fine with a younger child as well as an older family where
he’ll love to take walks. He rides well in the car, sitting
in the way back of the wagon to look at the outside world.
Although the journey for Spot started in a private plan
ride, he takes everything in stride and will make a family
very happy to have him.

Ester is a very loving and gentle nine year
old sweetie. She has very good manners and a winning personality! She does
have numerous health issues that are chronicled on the Special Needs page.
Some of these issues are chronic and will have to be managed for Ester’s
entire life, while we are working on resolving other issues. Ester has been
amazingly patient throughout this process.
Ester loves to be with her people, but does well when left in the company of
her doggy foster-sisters. She becomes anxious when left totally alone.
Therefore a home with a companion dog would be preferable. She is also good
with cats. Ester was a hunting dog. She is most happy running through the
woods with her much younger foster-sisters. She loves to swim and to play.
Although she has very limited vision, this girl still leaps in the air to
catch tennis balls! Ester would make a wonderful addition to a family able
to put in the extra time to care for her.

Brianna is a 4 year old L/W spayed female who
was surrendered to us because her owners were moving to a
retirement community in Florida where they are only allowed
one dog and dogs had to be under 25 lbs. She is very sweet
and loves the water! She has some skin issues we're looking
into and needs to lose some weight.
Cats and kids would be more than fine in a house with
Brianna. Her ideal home would be one where people are NOT at
work all day. She has looked for trouble when left alone and
should be crated (at least initially). She was used to going
places in the car and is a great companion in that sense.
She was allowed free range to go in an out in her old home,
and loves to hang-out outside. She is being fostered on a
small farm, and is able to be outside with her foster mom
and enjoys the ‘lifestyle’. If she is going to be with
another dog, she needs someone knowledgeable needs to be in
charge from the get-go, to ensure things are safe. She would
enjoy being the only dog as she is quite jealous. She really
needs an animal savvy person who is going to spend a good
deal of time with her and can set limits for her as her
previous owners do not appear to have set limits for her.
She will be a wonderful and devoted dog to that person.

My name is Thatcher. I
am a five-year old liver and white female and adore my
foster parents. My ideal home would be one with two parents
and no young children and no other pets, well, maybe a fish
would be okay. The reason is that I am somewhat insecure
and unsure of myself in new situations. Once I know my way
around, I do fine in all situations although it takes me a
while to warm up to new people. I like to be out doors and
although I am good on a leash, my foster parents let me run
freely in their back yard. Don’t worry I never let Dad get
out of my sight. I would like to be on the couch or the bed
with my people but Mom and Dad don’t let me because once I
get there, I don’t like to get down. I sleep on my own bed
in their bedroom. One thing that freaks me out is being put
in a cage or a small room. That really makes me ugly. But
you don’t need to do that because I’m fine being left alone
at home. I don’t empty trash cans or counter surf.
Somebody said that I was a resource guarder but so far Mom
and Dad say I have been very good. I would really like to
find a forever home soon. Can someone out there offer me a
place in their home and their hearts? I promise I’ll pay
you back in love and devotion. (Sometimes my Dad calls me
the “mad licker”).
