Titan -ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
Titan is a 1 year old field bred neutered male. He is energetic and looking for a patient and quiet home where he can feel safe and loved. Shy in new situations, he is looking for an adopter with the patience to bring him along and expose him to the "good life" and fun new things while re-assuring them to take things in stride. Titan comes equipped with his favorite Lacrosse ball he carries everywhere he goes. He enjoys a good game of fetch and a good run in a fenced in yard please. His ideal home would be an adult home where someone is around most of the day, and one that is patient and loving with plenty of treats to go around! |

Roxy -ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
Roxy is a 1 year old petite field bred spayed female. She loves to run and would be great for a home with a nice fenced in yard for her. She would love a quiet place to call her own where someone is home a good portion of the day. She needs time to come around and adjust to new people and situations but once she does is a real love. |

Hobbes- Contact Shelter Directly |
|||||||||||||
My 9 year old sister has trouble remembering not to approach me when I’m lying down. She doesn’t realize that sometimes I want to be near my family but not petted. I hope my new family will be able to let me initiate petting time when I come up to them. I am pretty scared of other dogs so I’ve had trouble making dog friends. I bark and pull on my lead when I pass others dogs on a walk. When I actually get to interact with other dogs, sometimes I just want to run away and hide and sometimes I will try to play, it depends on how scary I think the other dog is. My family loves me very much and hopes that my new family will provide me with a safe and loving home. Love, Hobbes. Philadelphia, PA 19104

Molly – ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
Miss Molly is a beautiful 6 year old L/W Springer weighing in about 47lbs. She has a wonderful temperament; she loves to cuddle and to be loved. She currently has pretty serious skin allergies and is pending medical treatment for both her skin allergies and the removal of a large cyst. She gets along really well with other dogs and children. We are working with cats right now; she is not aggressive towards them but can be a little more than some cats can tolerate. 12/08/07 - Update - Molly has successfully recovered from her surgery to remove the large cyst on her side. He is so happy to have that gone and her energy level has risen considerably. She has been weaned from her steroids and has started a new course of medication for her skin. She still suffers from itchy skin but seems to be growing hair, at this point we aren't sure whether this is from the diet change or the medicine since it has only been a couple of weeks on the new meds but no complaints with the cold weather she needs the hair. We still have a while to go before we will fully know how well she will respond to the medication but are very hopefully. In addition to the medicine and food changes, we keep her clothed off and on through out the day which helps to stop the itching and allows that hair to grow and skin to heal. At this point Molly's medical care and food is costing about $150 - 200 a month. Please consider a donation are to help with her recover as it could be lengthy and she is so worth it.

Belle – ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
I am a very sweet, affectionate 9-year-old senior deaf girl. My owner relocated out of state and could not take me. Because I am deaf I like to stay close and keep you in my sight, but respond very well to hand signals. I will need a home with a fenced yard or a run so that I won’t wander; because I cannot hear you call for me and I just keep on going. I am house trained; I bark when I have to go out and when it’s time to come in. I am great on a leash and like to go for walks, but like most seniors I like to take it easy. I move with no apparent discomfort, although I have some arthritis and stiffness in my hips and legs. I love the car very, very much because I spent sometime living in a car with my owner, so I love to go for rides or just to hang out and take a nap - it’s comforting to me and that’s why I don’t like to sleep alone. My foster Mom says a have been the sweetest houseguest and have not been a bit of trouble. I have wonderful manners and I am not destructive. I don’t jump on people and I don’t beg (okay – just sometimes I whine when I think you’re eating something good)! I am mellow and love children of all ages, but because of my hearing loss my foster Mom thinks it will be better to be in a home with older children. I get along well with the other Springer’s I live with; I don’t even mind sharing my toys or food. Oh, before I forget - I don’t like cats! A home where someone will be with me most of the time would be ideal because I like attention and I am little insecure. If I am invited on the couch, I love to snuggle and be close and will give you lots of Springer kisses. I love to play with soft squeaky toys and balls. If you adopt me I promise I will make a wonderful companion! |

Jake-ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
Would you like to have a buddy who will give you tons of affection? Then I'm here for you. My name is Jake and I am a 3 1/2 year old neutered black and white bundle of energy. My foster parents say that I have one bad trait: when I want attention I tend to be a kleptomaniac. I will take almost anything in my mouth because I know that people will pay attention to me when I am running around the house with a bra or a CD in my mouth. It works really well, in my opinion. This also is successful in getting food on occasion, as sometimes I would rather trade for a treat than let anyone take my treasure away. I love the outdoors, particularly the snow that we've been having lately. I bounce through the backyard with snow flying every which way. I know the basic commands, and will even shake your hand. I like to chase squirrels and frequently patrol the bird feeder in search of them.

Phantom- ADOPTED! |
|||||||||||||
It is three years – Nearly to the day that I drove down to RI to pick up Phantom. We wanted to say “Thanks” for rescuing Phantom and give you an update. Phantom is having a great time - all the time. He is still a bit of a handful but – what a fun guy– his tail never stops wagging. I finally gave up on my attempts at agility and started playing to Phantom’s strong suite – which is hunting. We started trying to hunt the first Fall I had Phantom and he was a little gun shy – but we worked hard with a starting pistol and got over that. Then we added birds and the fun began. We joined the Patriot Sporting Spaniel Club, so we get to train a few times off-season. Phantom has a great nose and is very eager to please – he is hunting pretty close and we are training to keep him in tighter all the time. He has a good retrieve, although, given the opportunity he will keep the bird. I always wanted to hunt and as a result of getting Phantom I started shooting so now I can keep up my end of the bargain. We had a great fall which culminated with my first two birds, both shot, in flight, on the same afternoon over Phantom (See Photo). I am considering entering Phantom in a Junior Hunt Test in the Spring It would be a real accomplishment if he could qualify! You’ll see the Elizabethan Collar on the chair in the photo – Phantom is a very avid hunter, he works very hard and will go anywhere in to the worst briars or thickets if he thinks there is a bird there, as a result he gets all nicked up – to keep him from licking and developing hot spots he spent most of the six week hunting season in the Elizabethan collar. Luckily - he is very tolerant. We managed to get out an average of 3 times a week for the 6 weeks of the season so it was worth it. Phantom put up a lot of birds this Fall (we missed a lot, a real lot, many more than we hit). We have several Wildlife Management areas within less than 5 miles of the house so we can run out in the late afternoon or in the morning before work and it is not a big production. It took a lot of work but Phantom is now better on a leash around other dogs but what is best is that he is now very well behaved off leash including around other dogs. It did require a training collar but now he stays around and I can take him hiking, hunting, ice fishing. Pretty much anywhere that we are safely away from the roads, Phantom can be loose and trusted to stay close. He is a sweet affectionate boy. He gets along well with Princess who is much quieter but definitely the Alpha dog. My office is here in the house and I only travel once every three or four weeks so the dogs are with me nearly all the time – Phantom is definitely a Velcro dog - my shadow – but that is just fine. I keep Phantom nice and lean and he gets a lot of exercise. Except for some dental issues he gets a good bill of health – he is nearly 12 now but I think he has a few more years in him. Thanks again, this one was a good match. Yours truly, M. J. Haesche |

| Max & Sara- ADOPTED! | ||||||||||||||
Hi, we're Max and Sara, a twelve year old brother and sister who
have spent our whole lives together. Our owner recently died of
cancer. We adore each other and would love to adore you. Max is
a big handsome boy and Sara is a petite little lady. We cuddle
together on our big dog bed, and know how to walk together on
one leash with a connector. We are very well-behaved around cats
and other dogs, friendly to people, and interested in all
smells. Despite our age, we love walks (on the leash or running
free), and have lots of energy. We like to jog with you, if you
are a runner. We know how to sit, come, lie down, and wait. We
are very well-behaved in cars, sleep a lot like anyone our age,
and are always excited to see our foster mother. There's nothing
we love better than dog biscuits, except maybe bacon. We want to
be with you as much as possible, even though we mostly just
sleep on the floor nearby. Please consider taking us home and
giving us a loving new family!

Wrigley-ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
My name is Wrigley, or is it Wiggley or Waggley
as that is all I do, I am so happy all the time! I must have
come from a very loving home as I am well trained to many
commands, am housebroken, love walking/running with you every
day (am good on my leash), enjoy car rides and the attention I
get when I am being brushed, take baths patiently and LOVE to be
towel dried! My favorite past times are giving love and kisses,
keeping your feet warm, being wherever you are and playing; you
will find me sometimes playing ball or with a squeaky toy all by
myself in the living room - it will really make you laugh, I am
such a goof ball. Remember that I am only about three so I do
need daily outdoor, human guided, exercise like walking or
jogging. I am not sure if I like cats or not, my foster mom has
not found one for me to play with yet, I would do best in a home
without another dog. I love people when I am in my home but
bark at them on the streets, my vet said that is because that is
"what I am supposed to do as a stray dog" but, with consistency
will be trained to love even when outside. I am very smart and
eager to learn, my foster home has nearly trained me out of my
counter surfing in one week! But I will need continued
reinforcement with that. If you think you can give me what I
need and are looking for a long term companion who will make you
laugh out loud, enjoy all of your activities with you and warm
both your feet and your heart, let us know.

Sarah – ADOPTED |
||||||||||||||
My name is Sarah. My foster
Mom says it should be "snugglepuss" or "lovebug". I am an 8 year
young girl who has lots of love and energy! Unfortunately, I tore my
ACL and just had surgery last week. The surgeon says everything
looks great for a full recovery, but I have to be restricted to
leash walking for 3 months since I might overdo it. I would like a
quiet home where I can be loved and spoiled to death! I am used to
someone being home and I don't like kitties (they're for chasing!).
I get along great with my foster brother and sister.

Bridie– ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
I may be 11 years old but I have aged
very well. Hard of hearing but learning hand signals was
a snap and I love my long walks. I do not pull on the
leash but can set a good pace for you if you want. I
love everyone including children but because I get
excited when there is a lot going on a quieter lifestyle
might be better. When you come home I like to welcome
you with a little singing. I am very affectionate and
love kisses and hugs but won't pester you for them or be
a nuisance. I can be trusted to be loose in the house if
you go out. I will even let you share my dinner with me
if you like. I get along well with other dogs and have
lived my past 11 years with a companion. I was a bit
over-weight when I came into Rescue but am now a svelte
33 pounds.
I am just a gentle, loving and easy going old lady 'looking for love in far away places'. If you give me a chance you won't be disappointed. |

Sammy – ADOPTED! |
||||||||||||||
Sammy is a wonderful 9 year old field springer. He's a big guy (80 pounds!) with a heart to match! He loves kids, swimming, and other dogs. Sammy likes to chase squirrels and other little critters so he needs to go to a home without cats. Sammy is very strong and needs a strong owner who will exercise him, and be able to manage him on walks. Its a good thing that Sammy especially loves men. He has a little arthritis in his hips so his daily 2 mile walk is about his limit. Otherwise Sammy is happy to cuddle with you or lie at your feet. Don't forget those tummy rubs!

Sophie- Adopted |
||||||||||||||
Hi, My name is Sophie, I'm a one year old Field-bred Springer. I weigh about 30 lbs about 30 lbs. I’m a very sweet and affectionate girl who loves to cuddle on the couch with you. I would do best with a family that has a fenced yard and someone I can play with. A family that worked from home would be nice. I am crate trained but prefer to be loose. I do very well when left alone. I love children, haven’t meet one yet I didn’t like. I am still adjusting to all sorts of new noise and sights…they are so many things to see and do. My foster mom has been helping my get socialized, I haven’t been out much in my short life. She says I’m doing great. I like all the adventures we go on!! I have been learning how to sit, lie down, and come when called…I’ll do anything for a treat!! My foster parents say I’m a joy to have and I really like my foster sisters. Would you please give me a chance to make your family complete…you won’t be disappointed!!
