Thank you for a wonderful 2009!

We want to thank everyone who contributed to our Annual Fundraising Drive!

     Our Annual Fundraising Drive is our yearly effort to raise funds to ensure we have the resources to help dogs with additional medical needs beyond the usual vetting.  Because of your support, this year we were able to take in 56 English Springer Spaniels in need.  Because of the economy, this year was a special challenge.  We received many dogs whose owners were no longer able to take care of them financially, or who were losing their homes and moving to a location where they could no longer keep their dogs.

     We could never do what we do and have had such a successful year without the hard work of our many volunteers and the help and financial contributions of all of our friends, adoptive homes and supporters.  In addition, our primary rescue vet, Chelmsford Veterinary Hospital, and many of our fosters’ vets and behaviorists across New England provide care for our dogs at a discounted rate, stretching our dollars as far as they can go!

     Some of the medical issues we treated this year were 3 dogs with seizure disorders, 1 dog with Cushing’s disease, another with drug resistant pseudomonas in her ears, 2 that required ACL surgery, and 2 more requiring ear canal oblation surgery (the ear canal was so scarred from recurrent infections it could no longer be saved).  In addition, five more dogs required surgery--three to remove tumors, one for bowel intusseption, and one for congential knee issues.  This medical treatment was all in addition to our normal spay/neuter program and regular vetting which includes a wellness check, all vaccinations and a 3-way test.

Your Donation Matters

NEESSR feels very strongly that no adoptable dog should be left behind because of medical costs. We receive donations from folks who adopt our dogs and also those who surrender their dogs. But sometimes that isn't enough to cover medical costs for a dog that needs more than routine exams, treatments, and spaying/neutering.
